Wilson's fame travelled into the US in 2014 when she starred as a character on Showtimes The Affair. She played Alison Lockhart, a young woman who is struggling with her background and falls in love with Noah Solloway. Wilson as well as Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson won a Golden Globe as Best Actress for a Television Series-Drama in 2015. Wilson stated to British Vogue, "I loved getting to portray the character that has both sides of the tale." Noah believes that Alison to be this confident, reckless sexually attractive version of her. But she sees herself in a different way she sees herself as shy and dowdy from the inside. The actress added "I consider that America is a moral country and that they are so judgmental. What happens on the show looks shocking." Wilson's exit of the show outraged a lot of her viewers in the year 2018. She remained in the dark about what happened. In an interview in August of 2018 with CBS This Morning, Wilson stated that she did wish to quit the show, but wasn't allowed to explain why. The Little Stranger More recently Wilson has been pursuing film work. Wilson was a part of the film of horror I Am the Pretty Thing who lives in the house in 2016, and later in the rom-com with a sci-fi twist How to Talk to Girls on Parties, playing the cryptic PT Stella. To add more of the horror genre onto her film credits she is scheduled to appear in the British film adaptation of The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller which is based on the book by writer Sarah Waters. Wilson directs the production.
